Vacation Travel Club / Event Planners update to last report

This morning I spoke with the owner of Vacation Travel Club regarding my original report/complaint about Event Planners/Vacation Travel Club. Here is an update:

My original report details the presentation experience, but I will reiterate the basics: was told on phone that business was new, local business called Event Planners and we would get free tickets/vacation—no strings—for attending presentation. Checked internet for Event Planners—too new. Attended show (cell off), felt pressure to "buy now, " gave credit card, received vouchers, took them home. Read Vouchers and contract. Checked "vacation travel club" website. Googled VTC. Did reverse lookup on salesman's cellphone (completely different company name in Arizona) Felt alarm at number of complaints. Vouchers (which VTC owner tells me are from a marketing company, not VTC) require $100 "good faith" payment before booking. Not Free. Procedure to claim free vacation was ridiculous, requiring three different dates over three months which may or may not be available. Not a good setup for a family of five. We must plan vacations with firm dates.

After experiencing "buyer's remorse" I read the Cancellation Procedures which required sending all materials to an address in Arizona (not so local, huh?) and THEY HAD TO ARRIVE WITHIN 72 HRS. Keep in mind that our presentation was on a Saturday. I Overnighted the packets for $50, sent certified copies of all paperwork and my letter to Corporate in Michigan (not so local, huh?) and tracked them personally. I followed up by email and voicemail.

We received a FULL refund ($2000). They did not charge us the penalty percentage, and they have not hounded us. I think this company might be a good thing if one is single or retired, with few commitments and plenty of money.

I would caution consumers to NOT give your credit card to anyone without FULL DISCLOSURE—look over all the vouchers and all paperwork. It was the layers of dishonesty that led to my alarm and buyer's remorse. It felt like a bait and switch.
