My husband accidentally purchased 2 round trip air tickets for himself from Cheaptickets on July 20. The site hung and stalled for such a long time he clicked the back button and hit submit again. He meant to purchase 1 ticket and clicked submit. He received 2 email confirmations and realized cheaptickets issued 2 tickets for him on the same flight. He immediately emailed them to notify them of the mistake.
They wrote back saying that they cancelled the second ticket. However, the bank account was debited twice (each for $968.70).
We have called customer service over 20 times since July, and have been repeatedly lied to about our refund. The regular customer service reps are outsourced and are cluelss and powerless. We also spoke to several superviors — after being placed on hold for hours. Each provided us with different and inconsistant information. Once they realized that I was looking for a refund, they would put me on hold. Some reps told me that they would call me back, and was told the next time I called that they are not allowed to call customers. They also are not allowed to provide their full name so there is no way to follow up with the same supervisor. We would need to explain the situation a new to every person we spoke to. The records they kept in their computers were totally inaccurate.
I was already lied to and told by one rep that the refund would should on an upcoming billing cycle (in 3-5 dyas) — that was 8 weeks ago. Another rep told me we needed to mail the tickets to the airline - nothing came of that. Another rep told us we should not have mailed the tickets to the airline... The story is never ending.
We are outraged at this company. We have already filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Should nothing come of that we will file a law suit.
