On the craigslist website, I decided to rent a townhouse in Miami Beach, Fl for vacation plans on March 20-25th. Furthermore, I was working with a so-called landlord by the name of Jehn Mills, who seemed highly reliable and professional. However, that was not the case.
On, Jan 23, Jehn Mills sent me the short-term lease and agreement to me through an email stated along with the cost requirements shortly after we spoke concerning the booking for the place.By the end of February, I had gave him the amount of $2200 which was $1100 for the security deposit and $1100 for the first deposit.
Upon arrival, he had mentioned to me that there was an issue regarding the house about a lighting fuse, however he never stated a change in the arrival date March 20th. Furthermore, we proceeded with our vacation plans. As we arrived in Miami, we found that the rental info was incorrect. The address 828 unit 3a, Miami Beach, fl 33139 did not match up to the pictures that was sent in an email sent by him. Furthermore, we were stranded because he failed to return any of my calls or emails regarding the mix-up.
Throughout the vacation, we were left having to deal with financial problems and traveling expenses that were unnecessary. Later, we found that he was using a miscellenous fax number and address of a million-dollar yacht club located at 90 Alton Rd, Miami Beach, Fl to export my money and faxes to him or whomever. Furthermore, the company name that he supposedly worked for, HM Micheal & Associates was not at that residence.infact, we decided to ask the main security at the yacht club residence at they did not know of this person at all.
We made a police report, and a detective stated they even heard of this person before known for rental fraud. Unfortunately, this person is still threatening the community in the needs for misconduct and financial abuse. This matter needs to be take care of immediately before someone else will in the same position.
