Caution! Acis demanded extra cash once we were in a foreign country!
The first morning of a school-group tour in Italy, the ACIS tour guide pulled me and my teenage daughter aside and demanded $280 CASH IMMEDIATELY! I said we did not owe it — we had pre-paid in full months ahead of time, and ACIS doesn't even let people travel unless they have paid in full).
I offered to pay by credit card (so I could dispute the charge) but the tour guide refused and said ACIS required cash immediately before we could leave. Then they held our school-group as virtual hostages — I was kept in the hotel lobby while the group was told to wait on the bus. The tour guide threatened to "take a collection" from our group unless I gave him cash.
Only after I paid him cash was our group belatedly allowed to leave on the bus. I had no option but to pay cash that I did not owe. This is duress.
