I was contacted 2 days ago by a company claiming that I had been chosen as the lucky winner for a trip for 2 to Bermuda. No phone number was left but they said they would call back the following afternoon.
The next night at 10pm they called back, claiming that I was a winner, again I wasn't home. I called back several times and could only get a recorded voice message.
Finally a woman answered and didn't want to give any information. She said only, 'they'll call you right back on the number you're dialling.' They didn't call back.
When I called back again I was told that I was being transferred. My call was forwarded to a non existant sales rep, (another automated message saying, essentially, nothing). When I called back I was told that nobody was around to give me information and then I was put on hold, while the agent 'looked for a manager' and then I was disconnected. When I called back again, there was a new answering machine that picked up - definitely some guy in his basement.
These people are super dodgy - don't listen to them, don't give them any information! The phone reps are rude and REALLY bad actors. Obviously they were freaked out that I was calling from a publishing house and didn't want to stay on the line for more than a few seconds.
Creepy!
