I was called on September 27 at 8:47 A.M.By some guy that was claiming to be a paralegal. He asked if I had an attorney and then I couldn't understand what else he was saying. He sounded foreign or some sort of accent.
There were interruptions on the phone, as if someone were on the other phone line trying to get through. I told him I had to take this call and flashed over, but no one was on that line. Then a call came in again from the guy claiming to be a paralegal, which we didn't connect on the phone line.
The third time the connection was made and he came off sounding very upset/rude asking me (in an accusing voice) "why did you hang up on me?" and "were you aware that you had three fraud charges against you?" I told him that I wasn't aware (which I do have a legitimate company keeping an eye on my crediting and there has been nothing reported).
He told me that I needed to get in contact with this attorney by the name of Max Gambel and then gave me the number to call him at. Before getting off the phone he was very insistant that I call him right away.
I checked with my legitimate team of paralegals about the situation and found there was nothing of this sort on my case. Meanwhile, I was searching the internet to find a hint of fraud and came across this website with information dealing with the same situation.
The number he gave me to call (916-243-6987 Rio Linda, CA) ended up being the same number he called me from, after i checked my caller ID. We tried calling that number and there was ringing and then a beep like an answering machine, but nothing was said. My husband kept trying to call it back and after leaving a message for Max Gambel asking if they wanted the information or not, he called them again and they finally picked up.
My husband confronted that man and all he could say was that they were a law office and he was an attorney at law. The man on the phone kept trying to figure out who my husband was, but my husband kept on him with asking who he was and trying to find out information. He told him that they called on fraud charges and a sue and told them that there were fraud alerts against the people calling.
Finally the man said "if you would like to get this sue taken care of, call us back with the information" and then he hung up. We are getting in contact with our attorney general. I hope this information helps out all of the future people being harassed by these low lifes!
