My wife entered a drawing at the Rockaway Townsquare mall to win a new car, 5 days later we received a call from a company saying that she had won a free 3 night stay at any Marriot hotel of her chosing and a $1000.00 internet shopping spree and that she still had a chance at the car.
All we had to do was claim it at Sundance vacation offices and listen to a sales pitch. We were leery we're aware that nothing is free!
We went to their offices listened to a 20 minute presentation, they showed a few pictures of some resorts (they did not say these were the destinations in their plan) then they took us to a back office for the high pressure pitch.
The cost is $15,000.00 for 30 vactions at any of their sites (still no information on where, or if these actual sites in their catalogue are in fact the real destinations) they start discounting the price down to $11,000.00 but we had to pay then and there, or finance with a direct withdrawl from our account at a high interest rate (No Way!).
Still no proof of the vacation destinations. I had asked several times and was told the accomodations were what you would expect at these type of resorts (rather vague, still had no information on the type of resorts although, they did have a 3 ring binder with pictures of unknown resorts). When asked are these the destinations I got no direct answer. They would not let us leave, they took us to 4 different people then the last person tried one last time to seperate us for our money. I asked to have them give me all the information and I would check it out then get back to them. I was told by their head sales person we don't do that this is such a great deal we need the money tonight! We told them NO!
As it turns out the free 3 night stay is at selected hotels only, no holiday stays and a lot of black out dates. The free internet shopping spree was for a web site called KEShoppingSpree.com mostly dollar store garbage!!! Oh! Yes we didn't win the car either!
We are not angry that we didn't win a car, actually my wife had forgotten that she had entered a contest. But, what is most unscrupulous is Sundance's practice of saying that you have won something only to find out that it is all a ruse to get you to part with your hard-earned cash!!! They were rude and deceitful, this does make us angry!!!
Even the lottery commision will pay up on an old lottery ticket. The moral of this story is play the lottery at least they pay up!
