In September my husband and I visited Gatlinburg Tennessee and were bombarded by timeshare salespeople. We went to a presentation to listen to what they had to say and like to have never gotten out the door; it was like they wouldn't let us leave.

Our salesman promised us so many wonderful things about this timeshare that after some consideration we felt this would be a wonderful investment and vacation atmosphere for us and our 5 children.

We were sold the following:

2 bedroom lockout unit in the "Red Weeks" (which is suppose to be any of the 52 weeks a year that we choose to visit)

Maid service to include clean linens daily

Unlimited horse riding at the stables was included in our price

A video arcade (which was a charge for playing the games only)

Unlimited fishing for our boys, fishing poles would be available for sign out in the lobby, included in our price.

Maintenance fees "would not" total more then $400.00 a year.

Owner membership cards (which I have requested 3 times)

Gold membership to Interval International for life included in the price.

In March we received our first matenance bill, it was a little more then we expected (about $420.00) but were also told that we could not make our reservation until our fees were paid, I mailed the check right away, I was so excited to take my kids there and see what we would own for the rest of our lives, a piece of Gatlinburg, vacation paradise. Oh what a nightmare I was in for! I waited for the check to clear my bank to insure Westage received the money. I called to make our reservation and was politely told that there were no vacancies and I would have to wait until the following year. After requesting to speak to a supervisor and again being told that they were not going to reserve "our cabin" I became very irritated and decided I should call the resort directly. After approximately 15 minutes on the phone arguing with the representative, they decided to reserve "our cabin".

In July we took our family to Gatlinburg that was the worst nightmare I have ever had. I have never been lied to so bad in my entire life. Every word in the list above was a complete lie. I have never worked so hard in my life, I had to wash their linens, clean the cabin not only daily but had have it spotless before we left, there was NOTHING for my kids to do unless I paid dearly for it. Oh sir, it was a nightmare. We received our maintenance bill for this year in January for $514.00 and some change, clearly alot more then last year, and I have to be honest with you, this is a past due bill as I refused to pay it at this time. They are calling my house at least 3 times a week. I explained to the representative why I would not pay the bill, she gives me a number to a "Grievance" department and asks me to explain to them and they would satisfy my concerns. So I call, all they tried to do was sell me more. Offered to transfer my ownership to Orlando and my payment would only increase a little more then $100.00 a month and I needed to send her the transfer fee of $400.00 that day and she would take care of it, not to mention my new vacation was not going to be 5 1/2 hours from my home, it was now going to be 16 hours away. Oh My Goodness, this is unreal that they allow people to do business this way.
