Non-refund of cancelled airline tickets

I booked flights for myself through Kayak/Travelocity on 11th may. The tickets were return Chengdu, China to Bangkok, travelling 18th May. I had only 3 days in Bangkok to meet up with my boyfriend, a round-the-world cyclist. This was a very important trip for me. The tickets were cancelled on Sunday 12th May, as I had given an incorrect contact number - I had mistakenly confused two digits. I telephoned Kayak/Tavelocity on Monday 13th May - no mean feat from China - to be told that my refund had already been processed as the cancellation was made within the 24 hour rule. It is now over 4 weeks since the process was started and I have still received no refund. Telephoning this company from China is extremely difficult as most phones here have no international capacity. I therefore have to travel 18 km (over an hour's bus ride) to find a telephone I can use to make these calls. When I did finally get through to one of only two numbers, I found myself speaking to people who did not understand my situation and were quite rude to me. I would hazard a guess at a call centre in India or Pakistan. I just want to know where my 2,500 rmb is Kayak? I am due to leave China in one week and this money is part of my travel budget!!!
