Outboard rebuild all the other rip off reports are exactly what happened to us... Paid him for 150 hp merc outboard over $5000. Nothing came. Repeated calls with repeated explanations it was being "rebuilt" and would?

Contacted Outboard Rebuild regarding 150 hp Merc. Outboard. Jimmy Parise said he had one and for a little over $5000. He would send it to us. He gave us name of his bank. We checked that out and found he did have a commerical account at the bank so sent a check to his account.

No motor arrived. Repeated calls always got the same response. It was being shipped. Eventually we checked on name of shipper he claimed he used. They had never heard of him.

This went on for months. Always excuses. Finally after tons of calls a motor arrived. Serial number painted over, leaking oil, no cowling, lots of damage, on a broken uncovered pallet, etc. We took it to a local Merc dealer who told us it wasn't a 150hp and to send it back immediately. Whomever sent it had sent "a piece of junk" (his words).

Jimmy claimed the shipper had done all the damage and that another box contained the missing cowling and parts. The shipper checked. They had only picked up that one uncovered pallet. The shipper felt sorry for us and sent it back. Charging Jimmy Parise for the cost. After that he didn't return our calls.

We eventually decided to go to Florida and check out all his website address. All were fake. We then contacted the State Attorney General of Florida. Two of their investigator talked to us and they knew his name immediately so knew why we were there. They referred us to the Sheriff. We gave copies to the Sheriff's Dept of all our paperwork which include dates, receipts, telephone call notes, etc. Very thorough information.

We eventually found out, through our own investigation where he was. (the new shop keeper in where Jimmy had been before stiffing that owner of rent before moving out, called the owner of the building and we were given Jimmy's new address). We eventually located him.

He was very defensive when we showed up eventually giving us the same excuses he had for over a year. Eventually the sheriff did visit him. The sheriff told us to get notarized promissory note from him. The sheriff said he thought Mr. Parise not a bad guy only not a "good businessman". Hmmmm. The notarized note said he would pay us back within 2- 3 months.

Naturally he welched on that. We never heard another word. To collect we would have to take him to court and then try to collect meaning repeating all the above. Mr Parise obviously understand how the system works in his favor.

His newest, at that time, shop was located in the building his step father had just move his rebuild motor business to. That website is NWFloridaoutboard and he is Jim Parise Sr. It is listed as in Gulf Breeze but that is also incorrect. It is located on the highway that runs by Whiting Naval Auxiliary Field. There was a van out in front with the business name and telephone number. Not sure if Jimmy Parise is still associated with him.

We did eventually (due to obviously the sheriff's urging) pick up the notarized promissory note. At that time he did admit he had a beautiful big boat he had just returned from spending a weekend enjoying it.

Our suggestion, if you don't love to give money to a person who is, as described in all the other rip off reports, then we suggest you run, not walk, away from having any financial dealings with him. Even a local boat retail store owner we talked to knew of Jimmy's reputation due to being "ripped off" a few years back. You might check out the other NW Florida Rebuild website, call and see if you can locate Jimmy... Even if you do. Good luck in collecting your money..

Also you can try sending or calling the State Attorney's office in Milton Florida with your complaint, also the county sheriff's department. Be adament about insisting they become proactive regarding the business dealing of this person. Send them copies of all your documented paperwork if you have it. If more documented complaints are received perhaps this will finally start legal action against him. Good luck!
