On June 30, two young men and a father appeared at my door and said they were selling books to raise money so that their soccer team could go to England for an International soccer match. They said they were the only high school - aged team from the California (sacramento area) to be invited. They strongly encouraged me to order children's books and donate them to some local program needing children's literature. However, since I am a teacher, I had already donated hundreds of books to the community and wanted a religious set for myself. The books, processing and handling totalled $83.00.
I will never order anything from door-to-door solicitors again. The boys and their Dad seemed so genuine and wholesome -I wanted to help local kids. Silly me!!
