This incident is from last year (just signed up for consumer complaints).
American Marine Services in Fort Mill, SC said that they handle vinyl repair and (Woody) offered to fix the convertible top on our 1996 Chris Craft, repair 2 captain's chairs, and secure new trailer tires for us. He tallied everything up and asked that we pre-pay part of the balance, about $500.00. We did.
After 3 weeks, none of the work had been done. When we called to follow up, he came up with some lame excuse about being sick, did a half assed job on the two front chairs, and asked us to help him find a resource for the convertible top? He did nothing on the tires (I found them myself) and we eventually picked the boat up with almost nothing having been done. We lost nearly a full month of use during the season and never heard back from Woody.
I'll admit that I forgot to dispute the bill and really should have fought it with the credit card company. I figure the least I can do is write it up here and hope that (if they are still in business) someone else does not experience the same poor service that I did.
