Thomas Chaffee sold my personal boat on consignment to a person out of state (MI). The boat was shipped and the moeny was transfered to the account of Thomas Chaffee and he never paid me for the boat. A duplicate title was generated by Mr. Chaffee for the new owner to register the boat. The MI state attorney and the PA state attorney won't persue it as it is isolated (not enough people getting burned) for them to deal with.
It costs $5000,00 to start a lawsuit against him and to recieve 4-5k in return it will tie up 10-14 months of my life and maybe more than the retainer in costs.
In 2001 our group bought out the Dux assets and the name "DUX" and with Thomas Chaffee for a LLC to build and sell Dux inflatable boats. We structured our business model using one partner to run the boat plant, one partner to handle engineering improvements on the boat (it needed many safety upgrades), and Thomas to run the sales portion of the business. The business was selling many boats and our engineers were workingon medical products IE the inflatable vest for Dr. Sherri Pinsly. Our team built and invented technology and computer driven science for the rapid depolyment of an inflatable barrier for the elderly to protect them in case of a fall. Dr. Pinsley had paid Thomas chaffee (on our behalf) $334.000 in payment for our services and costs. However Mr. Chaffee had the money wired into his accounts instead of ours creating a lawsuit between us. Immediatly our attorneys froze mr Chaffees ability to cause anymore damage to the company and upon investigation Mr. Chaffee had removed our bookeeping information. We had to pay the bank for Micro Fisch copies of the documents needed to recreate the books and by the time we were able to get the information to court he had destroyed any information in his possesion. We spent a large amount of money in attorney fees and due to the break down of his wife in depositions we were vindicated. However the only thing we were able to aquire was his interest in our business. This is enough for us but beware, this man will find a weak spot and exploit it. For us it was religion. After a while we realized he used the credibility of Jesus Christ because he carried no credibility himself. While I wouldn't say he is a liar I will testify that he does thing that liars do. We were conned and that isn't easy. Beware!
