24 Hour Fitness
Violated the Disabled Persons Act of 1990

The 24 hour fitness on Balboa Ave. Is out of compliance with the Disabled Person's act of 1990. I recently broke my ankle, and wear a soft cast. This morning I arrived at 24 hour fitness Sport in hopes to go for a swim. Unfortunately the Women's locker room / bathrooms is located on the 2nd floor and the pool is located outside down an additional set of stairs to access the pool. (Either way the stairs are unavoidable)

When I went to the counter I politely explained my situation, that I was physically unabled to climb the stairs. The receptionist happened to be an assisstant manager and she snapped back that there was no elavator and I would just have to use the equipment they had available on the entry level, or go to another gym. I inquired if there was a restroom I could possibly use, and she told me next time I should come with someone to assist me on the stairs.

The closest 24 hour facilities are located in North County San Diego (approx 30 min away). The Dissable Persons Act of 1990 states: "facilities having 15 or more employees, should be able to make reasonable accomodations for disabled persons" I believe 24 hour fitness is a multi-million dollar facility, and should be able to make such an accomodation. I politely left feeling imbarassed, and discouragement, furthermore I pay a pretty penny and would expect to be able to use the facility as stated in the original contract I signed.
