This particular Gold's Gym "sold" my wife and I on a yearly membership. It was 40/month for the 2 of us, which wasn't too bad.
However, the gym was way overcrowded and we should have researched it much better than we did.
So, FINALLY, our 1 year contract was coming up, so we called 1 month in advance to cancel the membership. The person told us it would be taken care of and they would no longer draft our account.
Guess what? Next month came and our account was drafted. We called them and were told that the person we spoke to before didn't work there anymore and told us to call their billing company who controls their drafts.
So, we call the billing company and were told that they need a 30 day written notice. We called Gold's gym back immediately and demanded to know why we weren't told this when we initially called 1 month prior to the end of our contract. Evidently, they didn't care and said it wasn't their responsibility.
Obviously, the founder of Gold's gym was too busy pumping steroids into his/her body to attend ethics class. I will NEVER use Gold's Gym again, and, frankly, am quite scared that we'll never get this damn membership cancelled based on what I've read online here. I'll be speaking to my attorney immediately. Do not join golds gym!!!
