Ellen Charette came into my store acting as if she was from Sun City Festival and she was amazed with all the wonderful merchandise in my store. She wanted to know why I was not out at Festival where people could buy from me there. I told here I was trying to get in touch with the right person to accomplish just that. Many of my customers are from Festival and have also stated I should come out there and do a fashion show or boutique show. I told her I did not know who to contact and she stated I was talking to the right person! She kept on how great it would be for me to come out there and sell my merchandise as there was nothing out there.
Then she told me I needed to be advertising in the Festival Directory. Pulled out this advertising/marketing material and told me I needed to place an ad in the Directory because everyone at Festival uses the Directory. She told me to just place an add the size of my business card. When I said I would be interested she whipped out a contract with a name on it completely unrelated to Festival.
It turns out the company she works for is MARCOA Publishing out of San Diego. They have nothing to do with Sun City Festival and Ellen does not live at Festival either. This information was not disclosed to me when I signed up for the advertising. I found this out after I called to complain to the company about Ellen.
When Ellen left my store a customer of mine who had been standing at my front desk during the whole time Ellen was in my store performing commented, "you have just been duped!" Not only did that woman misrepresent who she was and did not disclose who she worked for, but she totally misrepresented her involvement and/or participation with Sun City Festival.
I had a product in the store Ellen was very interested in and asked me to fax all the information to her so she could read it. I did fax her three pages which also included the cost of the product.
She came back in a few days later and bought the product. At the end of the day I realized she had only paid half of the price of the product. I called her and asked her to please come in and pay the balance, she told me she was not going to come in and give me the rest of the money. Claimed she did not read the paperwork and did not know the price.
I felt so ripped off by this person I decided to call the company and let them know how this person does not disclose who she works for or that she is even in your establishment for the purpose of selling you something. I spoke with the Sales Manager Janice and she told me I would receive my money back. I waited over a week and did not receive anything so I called again. Janice assured me I would receive my money, but it usually took up to two weeks. That was the middle of October and I still have not received a check.
So... Now I feel as though not only was I lied to by the sales rep, but also the company!!
