We are a new handyman service who was contacted by Jamie Belza in July to perform painting and repair work in two FootLockers stores in Ohio.in order to do work for Jamie, you must be insured and you must show proof of this insurance. This is a requirement of the stores who are actually contracting him for services. He then farms the work out. He is a middle man and does not have a large business as he portrays nor does he have a staff. If he did I would fire them all for not answering the phone or returning messages.
When our invoices became 60 days old we began calling. We heard that his partner was having heart problems and had been hospitalized. Then we heard that his lawyers were now involved, attempting to get him power of attorney so he could sign checks. Then we were told the check was in the mail... Well four months has gone buy and we have received one call from Jamie saying he was on the road and would call us the following day. Hello... We are still waiting and that was three weeks ago.
We want our money, it may be insignificant to Jamie but it is not to us.
I am contacting the two FootLocker locations in the morning and am advising them of what is going on. I was told to do this by their corporate office. He is ripping off the stores as well as the contractors performing the work. It is unfair to hardworking people.
Valuable lesson learned... Check the internet first before agreeing to do any work and do not do work for Jamie unless you get money upfront.
