We had several years prior service with Verizon Wireless when we decided to upgrade our phone. We went to a Verizon Wireless store and were told we could buy a phone at a discount (with "phone credits") because we hadn't had a new phone in years. We purchased a phone and had it for 1.5 years. We changed to a family plan with another provider, and were charged an "early termination fee" of $175 from Verizon Wireless. Turns out they had fraudulently assigned us to a 2-yr contract without our knowledge. They won't admit this fact and won't retract the early termination fee.
