Is a rip-off! This company lies to you, scams you for money, and is one big story. Confessions of a talent scout

First and foremost, I apologize for the many of you that have been scammed and affected by this awful company. Some of you have picked up on their scams and were smart enough to do the research and only lost a few days of your time, others weren't so fortunate and have lost money. Now, let me explain my experience. I have not been and was not contacted by a "talent scout" by Marvel Models, I was a so called "talent scout" which is an overglamorous description of an outside door to door salesman.

I was right out of college and looking for a job in the sports and entertainment industry and like every other report here, got an e-mail from Estella Summers from NYC and she said she apologized for the short notice but wanted me to show up for an interview. I was just so excited to get the opportunity to break into the entertainment industry I didn't even bother to research. I replied to the e-mail said I would make it and asked for a confirmation that she received my e-mail. I never got any reply back from her - SHE DOESN'T EXIST!!!

I went to the interview and there were about 40 other people there, so much for being highly qualified and a one of a kind candidate. I'm not going to elaborate on the hiring process as other reports on here accurately describe that. Most people however didn't accept the job, I did, and here's what they do.

Krystal and Dan are the people in charge of the Chicago office, and apparantly Dan is the V.P. Of Marvel Models and is only in Chicago temporarily while the office gets up, but the office has been up for over 2 years now, he's not the V.P. Just another piece to lure you in.

Each employee hired is forced to fill out an I-9 tax form which means you are only a contractor for Marvel Models and not an employee, and you only get paid if you find talent to come to an open call and that talent pays the $600 to get a digital picture made for them. So no employees make money. The "talent scouts" which I'm just going to say from now on, salesmen are to go out to malls, beaches, wherever and find people to come out to the open call.

I never felt comfortable doing that knowing the scam behind things, but I was promised advancement into the marketing and sports division of things. More lies just to get me to accept the job, there are no other divisions, just the talent scout position. I did it for only three days because after I attended the first open call to see how it went, I saw three girls just get torn into, "you're to fat, you're to short, etc..." and they left in tears, it was just awful. I talked to a few of the people as they were leaving and they said they would never sign with this company and were appaled at the lack of professionalism.

These talent scouts will do anything to get talent in because they are desperate for money, they will go to free modeling websites and post ads with Yahoo.com or Hotmail.com e-mail addresses, they will approach you in the malls, etc. Trust me, as a former employee, as tempting and as flattering as it may sound, it's not the opportunity of a life time, it's a way to get your money and then you'll never hear from the again. Stay far away from Marvel Models. This is a great site and all of these reports are real!
