Roger Greer the subject of another complaint here is the owner of Hillview Assisted Living, and along with Debbie Hart, administrator operate a series of mobile homes in Todd, NC. Housing the elderly. He also recently bought another facility in Ashe county. Recently there was an incident of one of those residents a Ms. M being found wondering in the middle of the road more than a mile from the facility, shortly after a complaint which was filed with the state about several violations, filed 12/13. This complaint was obtained by me through a Freedom of Information request by me and was investigated by Ashe DSS. And at that time was dismissed and attributed to a disgruntled employee, Then less than 6 months later this lady was found wondering in the highway, picked up by a neighbor and returned to the facility where the neighbor was told "oops we did not know she as missing." This should be a Class A violation but the Ashe county DSS is dragging their feet neglecting to even question the witness or to levy the fines, at least that was the last information I had since requesting an investigation into this matter myself.
Now in the course of my investigation into this facility and my questioning of several former employees, and my discussions with State about this situation I have also become aware of the following.in while the owners wife was taking a shower a resident there left the facility and froze to death. This person lay behind the owners wife's car until the next morning when a breakfast head count revealed she was missing. State has verified the details I gave them but are neglecting to hand over the Freedom of Information request, since it has been claimed this death was attributed to a heart attack yet employees are being told it was a freezing death and not a heart attack. Undoubtable in my opinion, someone has tried to cover up the true facts, and State has claimed that their investigation reveled no violations, but did confirm to me that there was an incident just as I said. If a dead body is not a violation then I do not know what is and this man should not only lose his license to operate but should be prosecuted as well. Ashe County itself is trying to continue to allow this coverup, in my opinion to continue to funnel medicaid funds into this facility and some others owned by this man and trying to silence the investigation into this facility. I will continue to try to get state to release the freedom of Information request to me on this 2006 incident and I have also requested the 12/13 complaint be reopened and reinvestigated.
