Do not deal with this company because it is a complete scam. It might sound to good to be true. It might sound legit and cheap because their charge is only $2.95 for promised unlimited mystery shopping employment in your area. However, it is not. There are hidden charges. Below I attached a story one of their former employees wrote a while back. It helped me out so much and give exactly the detail as if it were you first hand. Once again I warn you they are scam artists, and they will take your money!
If you are reading this, most likely you called in response to a text or an ad you saw in your local newspaper and spoke to a representative at Shopper Systems. I'm assuming that you are now fervently searching the internet to see if it is a scam because you just gave them your information and your credit card number, right? Or perhaps you are thinking of signing up and just would like more information because they didn't really give you too much when you called. Well, you've certainly come to the right place for information because I worked at "Shopper Systems" for about three weeks and can tell you that although it isn't a complete scam, it is indeed in the realm of rip-off. Shopper Systems is located in Miami, Florida. Were you talking to someone in Miami, Florida? NOPE. You were talking to someone in an outsourced call center called The Veracity Group in Mesquite, Texas. I worked there for three weeks and didn't register hardly anyone because I could not seem to bring myself to sell a product that wasn't going to do anyone any good. I don't want to come down on the employees at the Veracity Group because they are simply doing what they are paid to do and are good people but I do want to explain the Shopper Systems program to you so you can make your own decision as to whether it is a scam or not. Now, when you call in the first thing they say is "Shopper Systems, my name is [FIRST NAME] [LAST NAME], you're calling about the ad/text?" Then, they ask for your zip code so they can see if there are any assignments in your area. Honestly, the people that register the mystery shoppers can't see if there are assignments in that area or not. They are reading from a script. After they get your zip code, they then ask if you have a credit, debit, or checking account available if it's required to make any mystery shopping purchases. What that really means is, "Do you have a debit or credit card so we don't waste our time talking to you?" If you say you don't have a debit, credit, or checking account, they immediately give you a website that does no good at all calledwww. ExtraMoneyZone.com. It's basically just to get you off their phone. If you say you DO have a credit, debit, or checking account available, then they start telling you that there ARE assignments available in your area and give you a generic list of stores and restaurants that any city would have so it sounds believable. Really? Is Podunk, Alabama going to have lots of mystery shopping assignments? NOPE. Fast forward through the boring and monotone script and then they come to the part where they say that training is FREE for all first time shoppers when you cover the $2.95 one time registration fee. At this point, you were probably thinking, "$2.95 is not that bad. I'll give it a shot." So you give them your information. Then they ask for a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover. You give it to them willingly because, hey, it's just $2.95, right? WRONG. After you give your credit card information, they make sure that the card will authorize and then they transfer you to an audio verification recording "for your protection'. They begin telling you more about the website and tell you that your username is your 10 digit telephone number and your password is password. Then they tell you that you have access to the assignments for 7 days and after that 7 days, you will be charged $49.95 a month. You are thinking, "WHAT?! You didn't mention that, phone person who won't let me get a word in edgewise!" Then as you are pondering on $49.95 a month, you hear the word, "OK" and you say "OK". Yeah, you just signed up for Shopper Systems with that one simple word. "You do have 7 days to review the website and if you aren't completely satisfied you can call in and discontinue. "You are ready to get off the phone and all of a sudden they start talking about Surplus Supplier and your own webstore. You are probably thinking, "What the hell does this have to do with the price of tea in China?" Ya, my sentiments exactly when I would read it verbatim. You get bored and hear $49.95 a month and $3.95 today and at this point you are so bored that you just want off the phone cause you heard all this before. WAIT, $3.95? Is that another charge? You say nothing because you can't get a word in edgewise. You are damn near asleep when you hear them say "OK" again. You say, "OK". You are now the proud owner of another useless website that will do you no good. "But you have the website for Surplus Supplier and can take a look at and if it's not for you, you have 14 days to make money or discontinue, OK?" LOL!!! So, they tell you that they make no promises as to how much you are gonna make and happy shopping and all that crap, then they say hold on the line for your verification ID. They'll play it for you 2 or 3 times because they need time to charge your card the $2.95 and the $3.95. You write it down and they are gone off the phone. Did you write down that 800 number that they gave you? Probably not. So now you are here reading my article about Shopper Systems to see if it is legit. It's not classified as a scam because they do offer a product. Once you sign up for Shopper Systems, you have access to MYSTERY SHOPPING COMPANIES that will sign you up for free anyways. If you had taken 20 minutes of your time to search online for mystery shopping companies like www.bestmark.com, you would have saved your self the money you just spent. You still have to sign up for those. The only thing that Shopper Systems offers is the convenience of putting all of those assignments in one spot. As far as Surplus Supplier goes, I've never seen the website but I've heard that most of the items are out of stock anyways. If you like the convenience of not searching around for assignments on your own and don't mind paying the $49.95 a month, then Shopper Systems is probably good for you. But for those of you who feel scammed, you were but mostly because you didn't listen closely to what they were saying. My opinion, cancel your trial and do your own legwork. NO ONE should have to pay to work. As for the people at The Veracity Group, they are cool people just trying to make money just like you. Don't knock them for it. Just simply tell them "NO" and hang up. My dad always said that there's a sucker born every minute and you can simply let someone else be the sucker.
