Bette Doesn't know what she is doing

I had an interview with Bette in Volt's Bellevue WA office. There were several jobs posted on their site that I was well qualified for. Later Bette told me that these were old postings that were already filled but they didn't take them off their site, but instead just let them automatically drop off after 90 days. After a brief interview she told me she "verified my references" and that they had all come back positive. I called all of my references to thank them and they all reported that no one had contacted them.

I tested in the higher score ranges, have two degrees from top-tier colleges, and have years of verifiable experience in office and customer service roles. She presented me with a few other jobs over the course of two weeks, which I was also qualified for and willing to do. However, in all of these cases it became apparent that she didn't understand what the job requirements meant. For example, she asked me if I had "one year of experience with Sharepoint." I asked "do you mean as a user or administrator?" and she replied that if I had to ask a question about the qualification that I was not qualified.

Finally she did offer a job that was nearly ideal for me, but then later when I called to check on the start date she said that I was over-qualified so she hadn't sent the client my resume. After that she wouldn't return any of my calls. I got a job through another agency as a temp for 3 months, which they later extended to 11 months, and then offered me a permanent position. The client was billed about $17K total by the agency, so I think that demonstrates that I was a fairly valuable job placement candidate.

Years ago I worked as a Technical Staffing Agent before I had any technical knowledge and it is not that
hard, if you don't know about the details of a field you just get on the internet and learn about it at least enough to understand the job requirements. The experience was useful in this way: after observing how incompetent a Senior Recruiter could be and still have a job, I reasoned that I could really exceed expectations in that field, so I decided to get back into recruiting and HR and am already being groomed into a management role. It is a shame that Volt and their clients are missing good placement candidates because one of their recruiters can't do her job.
