Hired this attorney about the June time frame. Gave it a $1000 retainer. During the second meeting, provided it with paperwork for my case. It asked me for a particular piece of info which I said was in the package. It said no it wasn't, then said "oh yeah, here it is on the last page". It worked out some child support numbers on a worksheet (very incorrectly). It also told me that the balance due on the account would be on July 16th (it contacted me on the 14th and said it was past due).
At the next meeting on July 6th, it said that we were nearly ready to submit things to the court. I asked what was taking so long. It told me that it needed one more piece of info, which was the same piece it overlooked a month prior in the very same folder! I was fuming. What attention to detail...
At this last meeting it said it was very professional & would not engage in typical lawyer tactics. Here is the "professional" email it sent me when I simply asked for a detailed invoice of expenses to date since more than a month had elapsed:
"You will receive that on a QUARTERLY basis - and I have just decide that you are too much of a pain in the *ss for me to be bothered with — therefore = within two weeks you will receive a final statement and a return of unused funds. —
Michele"
Afterwards, someone else told me that the would not go to this attorney for a dog bite.
