A few years ago my social security number was stollen along with my birthdate. This is the only information that the criminal was able to acquire. They went to a verizon wireless retail outlet and opened a new account with this information. I received a copy of this fraudulent account from the collection agency that is trying to collect money from me. The only information on the contract that is correct is the social number and birthdate. Any my signature does not match.
The address is incorrect, along with the employer, and drivers license number. There is even a section on the contract that ask if the verizon wireless agent verified the identificatoin, which they did not. I had an account with verizon wireless that had my personal information already, so they should have known that information was not correct. Also the account was opened in another state that I do not reside in. All red flags, to a company without there head up their A@ anyway.
I have contacted the fraud department several times with no response from them. I have closed my account with verizon wireless because of their terrible business practices and their assistance in consumer fraud. This might have been a mistake on my behalf, since I am no longer a customer they have no desire to work with me. Verizon wireless only cares about your money even if they have to assist criminals like themselves to get it illegaly.
