I contacted RMK Network after seeing a posting in my local paper for musical talent. I called the company, and they asked for a demo and press kit, fairly standard in the business. I asked some musician friends, but they had not heard of the company, but saw nothing fishy.
I was contacted a few days later, told they would like to work with me, and had some material for my review (ideas of what sort of work I might have). I reviewed it, liked what I saw, and contacted them for the next step. They wanted me to sign a letter authorizing them as my agent, and pay a portion of the cost for a new press kit to be assembled. I balked a bit, but ended up doing so against my better judgement. Yep, sure enough! Now, I haven't heard anything for 5 months, and can not get through to them!
I would have done something sooner, but had not heard of this site until today, so I want to warn people about RMK Network. None of the company lists I have include this company, and there are no obvious records to be obtained about them. I urge musicians to be cautious of this, and all companies, that prey on the starving musician and singers.
