This is a long history, I have to make it short
I hired "Modern Movers" to move my furniture from Deerfield Beach, Fl to Buda Texas in April/11.
I was given a n estimate by Steve Coburn for $2,882.00. The estimate S.

In the middle of the moving with a lot a my furniture in the truck, Steve C. Called me saying I have to pay $600.00 more because the weigh was more than what he thought, I HAD NO MORE OPTION THAN AGREE WITH IT BECAUSE most of my furniture was in the truck already, IN ONE WORD, I WAS FORCED BY STEVE C. TO PAY WHATEVER HE WANTED, after he gave a BINDING estimate which he dishonored.
I have being IGNORED BY MODERN MOVERS after e-mailing, writing, calling them. So far until today July 31/11, I have not heard from them. Only a woman called Shannon called me 3 or 4 days ago ONLY because I am disputing part of what I paid with my credit card company and she told me she was going to call me today Friday July 29, she NEVER DID! I called her very upset to find out what was going on with my claim and she was VERY NASTY and hung on on me.
I HAVE BEEN VERY PATIENT WITH THIS SITUATION. I am a 70 years old lady, I have been treated very bad from that company, Steve C. Yelled at me, lied to me, He told me ALWAYS THAT I WILL PAY AT THE END OF THE MOVING. It was not true at all! He forced to pay way before the mover showed up in my new address in Buda, Tx.
Again: i was always told by steve coburn that i have to pay at the end of the moving.in my case i was forced to pay before the delivery, i had not choice than do this otherwise i would have never receive my furniture!
When the truck arrived at my new address, according to Steve Coburn, I had to pay $430.00 Aprox. Which I did, because they had to hire a shuttle to bring my furniture the next day April 19, because the truck was too big and did not fit in the parking. Not true. Later I saw a truck the same size entered backwards with no problem. If the driver did not know how to do it, its not my fault. Again, Seteve C. Scream at me saying I HAVE TO PAY. That was not in the contract either. I had no choice but paying that extra money.
The movers damaged some of my furniture, I have made claims to Modern Movers with no answered! IT IS INCREDIBLE HOW THIS COMPANY WORKS AND HAD ABUSED ME, a lady 70 years old alone with no help and living ONLY from my social security check!
I have paid to those movers $600.00, $430.00 extra, plus the first estimate of $2,282.00.
Still waiting for their response to my claim OF THE DAMAGE TO MY FURNITURE. NO ANSWER, NO EXPLANATION, NO PHONE CALLS FROM THEM AS OF TODAY JULY 31/11.
Do not ever work with modern movers, lehigh acres, fl!!!
