I filed a complaint with the BBB about Toyota. BBB forwarded my complaint to Toyota, which responded that I should contact its customer service department (I had contacted its customer service department, and was still dissatisfied.) The BBB then closed the case, without giving me a chance to respond.
I contacted the national association of BBBs in Virginia to complain about the way my complaint was handled. The national association contacted Southland and the respond was that Toyota is not a member of the BBB and the national association closed my case without giivng me a chance to respond.
There was no attempt to mediate the dispute between Toyota and me. BBB advertises that it can help resolve complaints, but obviously that is false advertising. It may be worth a try to contact the BBB, but we need more regulation.
