On 24 Apr around 0100 am. I received a call from my son stating his car was in a bog on Percival road in the sand. He told me he needed to pay for the service with a credit card. I gave him the information to use my card for payment. He then called back a few minutes layer and verbalized the driver of the tow truck told him they could only take cash. I asked what the cost would be. My son told me the tow truck driver verbalized it would be $250.00 for getting the car out of the sand. I then asked my son why was the fee so expensive. He verbalized they had to go to their shop and get another truck. I made him aware that he should let the driver take the car to their shop and we will pick it up later today. My son reported to the driver what we discussed.
My spouse went to pick up our son from the towing facility. I called the All American Road Service office this am and I asked about the $250.00 fee. I did not get the gentleman's name. I also asked about their business hours and if they accept credit cards at their office. I was told they close at 6:00 pm and they only accept cash. I picked up my son from our home and we arrived at the office around 5:30pm. My son went in to pay for the car with $260.00 in cash. He stayed for awhile and then called me and verbalized he needed more money because the price increased from $250.00. I went inside the office and asked why the change in the price. I was told by the person at the desk, it was $250.00 to pull the car out of the sand, $60.00, for towing the car to the shop and $20.00 for the car storage, which was approximately from 0300 am until we got to the business around 5:30 pm. I called my sister-in-law to bring me $30.00, because I only had $300.00 on me at that time. I informed the gentleman my sister-in-law lived a few minutes away and she was on her way. It was 5:45 pm when I told the gentleman my sister-in-law was on the way with the rest of the money. He verbalize "o'k", and they closed at 5:30pm and he had to go to a meeting at 6:00pm.
Meanwhile, another customer came to the shop around 5:45. He never told us we would not get the car if we were able to get the balance of the money to him. My sister-in-law got there at 6:01 pm with the money. The gentleman locked the building and was headed to his truck when my son asked him will he give him a receipt for the money and give him the car. He said no. He then drove the truck out of the gate, got out of the truck and stood by the gate for us to leave. When I pulled up to the gate where he was, I asked him why we could not get the car. He verbalized, " I do not have the receipt book and it is locked up in the building and the alarm is on." I looked at him without saying anything and my son and I drove off. Therefore, on 26 Apr we will have to pay an additional $20.00 for storage of the car for another day.
