I saw an ad for free credit report online or by mail, and thought it was just that. So i tried it. They asked for personal info.
Wanted me to give them info for requesting report frm agency's—ssi#, etc
Don't know if gave all info, but did not request service other than that report. They wanted a separate item to be charged if wanted score; plus they would issue membership items or send mailings if preferred. I read my report and did not see anything about being charged just for that free one.
I now have been charged $79.95 on my Capital... Card and hit with fee of$29 for being over limit! I haven't been over in awhile and I was doing alot better since disaster in my checking back in 2001. I feel abused; angry; and offended they would be so sneaky about it. I am only one I know, as now I see there have been many who are in the same boat. Some, with no recourse. I have notified my Card Company and have to call back after holiday. It's been 3wks or so since i did report and hope i can get this fixed, so it doesnt set my account back 3 years! They have scammed to many of us, and we don't want to take this insult lying down.
