The way this bunch of con artists ripped me off was by playing to my fears of losing my home. They sent me a letter stating they could get me a payment reduction because of the Governmental Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. This all happened before there was alot of talk about this type of scamming happening in the media. I was told I needed to send them all my information and a fee of $1200 and they and their lawyers would go to bat for me against my mortage co. To lower my payments. Shortly after complying with their request I heard of the Hope Now program and I called them. They told me that I did not need these people and could get this help for free. Best Interest encouraged me not to talk with my mortage lender that they would be taking care of everything including any phone calls. But, I called Hope Now and gave them all my information and actually talked to my mortage lender and worked out the details with them myself. I called Best Interest and told them I wanted my money back and they refused to admit the truth. Still insisting that they were doing the modification and I owed them that money. I received my modication in June it took my loan company almost a year to complete it. On Oct. 2009 Best Interest wrote me a letter saying they were pleased to inform me that my loan modification work had been completed by them and had been received, confirmed and accepted by my lender. They even refered me to my lender's representative like they were right on it. I had been talking to this person myself all through the final stages of my modification. Needless to say, I am still pissed and full aware of how these people worked to con me out of $1200 and even justified it in the end. If anyone else out there had this happen to you please make the effort to report these theives! I only see one other report filed. Also, if anyone knows a away I can get my money back please let me know -I seen a report on the internet of some lawyers going after these types of so called Co's. I'm sure I'm not the only one that this has happened to. They sould be made to pay us back with interest!
