This morning I was driving on CR1000 in Kendallville, In. A National Serv-all trash truck was traveling on a side road south of the WINDMILL MUSUEM. This was about 7:15 AM and still somewhat dark.
The National Serv-all trash truck driver barreled thru a stop sign and turned left into my path. If I had not been alert and paying attention I might not have been able to avoid a collision (and possibly been killed). I blew my horn and the driver just kept going.
A 1/4 mile up the road was a school bus picking up children and all I could think was that if that bus had been 2 minutes later, it could have been a horrific scene with injured or dead children.
When I got home I called the company in Ft Wayne, In. It was almost 8:00 AM. Well not close enough to 8:00 AM for the company, even tho this was clearly an emergency (who knows this driver could have been drunk or under the influence of drugs.) As the operator told me they would not put me thru before 8:00 AM and hung up on me.
When I was able to get thru to the company their attitude was very passe and not really interested in the fact they have deadly dangerous drivers working for them. When I pointed out the school bus and how deadly it could have been, the supervisor basically told me OH WELL.
Yeah this is a company that really cares for the citizens in the community that hires them.
Shame on SERV-ALL.
This morning at 7:15 AM I was driving on S ALLEN CHAPEL RD in kendallville, In. I was driving northeast towards US HWY 6. I was south of the overpass, somewhere between 550 north and Bodenhafer Rd a NATIONAL SERVALL trash truck was traveling north from a side road. The driver blew thru a stop sign and turned left into my path. Had I not been alert and paying attention I may not be sitting here, relating how dangerous this driver was. I was able to swerve to the right and onto the shoulder to avoid a deadly collision.
A quarter of mile up the road was a school bus picking up children, all I could think of was, WHAT IF THIS BUS DRIVER WAS 2 MINUTES LATE ON THE ROUTE. The possibility of a deadly crash with this trash truck and school bus is't too horrific to think about.
When I got to work (7:50 AM) I called the company at their Ft. Wayne In office. Well the company doesn't open until 8 AM. But there is the option of speaking with an operator if it is an emergency. Well the rude operator said it wasn't an emergency. Which I find appalling, how can a driver who might be drunk or high and endangering citizens in a community NOT be an emergency??? She said it wasn't and rudely hung up.
Later in my day when I had a chance to call again around 3pm, I was told the supervisor for that area was at lunch. At 3 PM??? OKAY!?
I got a call back about 4:30 pm from the supervisor who had the attitude, it was too late to find out which driver it might have been. And if someone is injured by one of their drivers and there is any type of loss, they are not responsible...???
Yep that is their attitude! Put a dangerous person in a 2 ton truck and it can become a deadly weapon, but their are not responsible!!!
Is this the people you really want hired to do a service in your community, endangering your life and/or that of your children? Not me!
