I made a collect call from a payphone using the number suggested at the phone booth, thinking it was a 1010-number that would save me money. Low and behold, I get a bill 2 months later in the amount of $13.80 for the 5 minute call. That's $2.76 per minute!
And that's not the only part of the scam! Dancris Telecom informed me that the reason the bill took so long to be processed was because they were trying to get my telephone company to simply add to their bill. How sneaky is that?
Long distance companies should not be allowed to connect phone calls without advising the consumer exactly how much it will cost! It's like when you go to an automated bank teller and you have to pay $1.50 for making a transaction. At least they give you the option to cancel!
