I brought a newfoundland puppy from Julie Thomas at WindDancer newfoundlands
The puppy was wonderful but at 5 months I noticed he was limping and seemed to whine when he walked, I called Julie and she said it was just Pano and he would grow out of it, he didn't he just got worse. I took him to my vet for x rays and my vet of 20 years said he had never seen such a bad case of hip and elbow dysplasia. My vet treated him with rimadyl which helped a bit, in a matter of a month I had taken him back to the vets 4 times and my vet suggested I put him down. I was devastated, I loved this puppy with all my heart. I called Julie to tell her what was happening and she didn't care nor was she going to do anything about it even though her contract states she will refund puppies if they get sick before 1 year and my pup now was 8 months old. I called her several times over the next few weeks for I was so upset and wanted a refund but she would not answer my calls or emails. There was no way I wanted another puppy from her not that she offered a replacement, all she did was ignore me. When I bought the dog she was so nice and caring but all that changed when she got my money. This is my first newfoundland puppy so I had no idea how to search for a good breeder, since this has all happened I have found a link to OFA's and found many of her dogs on there and most have DJD and Hips and Elbows. She continues to breed these dogs. Knowing fully well that she is producing crippled pups. I had to put my puppy down June 7 and trust me it was the hardest thing i have ever had to do so I am on here to try to warn others so they never have to go through this like my family and I did.
