I worked for American Satellite Company a couple of summers ago. I was hired by Justin Miller to work in Michigan for the summer selling Dish Network and Directv.
Because I was just starting college, I thought this would be a great way to earn some money. I was naive and believed most of the things that Justin Miller told me about the company and about selling satellite.
Throughout the summer Justin trained us on the product and how to respond to complaints. I trusted everything he taught us. He had been a successful sales rep and worked for the company for several years.
Toward the end of the summer, I began to realize that many of things he told us were half-truths (lies) meant to sound good. They contained a piece of reality, but also were phrased to hide the negative side of things. He used these in dealing with customers as well as in dealing with us.
His boss, Dave Burns, did the same. Dave was a lawyer before finding out how lucrative the satellite business could be. He wrote loopholes into the contracts he made us sign before starting work.
Both of these people (Justin Miller and Dave Burns) are very dishonest. If you are contacted by them (either to be a sales rep or to sign up for satellite), I would run the other way. They will deceive, lie, and cheat you.
