You have heard it hear first, Universal Gas And Electric is back only this time they are calling themselves NFuse Direct. Moving only a few miles down the street, they are now located in the Lower Level basement of the Comerica building on Telegraph. The office consists of a young cute girl who is purposefully left clueless to the to the true nature of the business and a guy who is very willing and able to sell you down a rabbits hole of lies. <br style="font-family: arial;"><br style="font-family: arial;">This company works on two levels. First it prays on desperation; people like myself who are out of work. They ask you to come in for an interview... This part of the scam only takes two minutes. After speaking briefly about what they do, going door to door selling energy at a lower price, they explain that as a seller we would get $25 per sale. At this point he tells a story about how most sales reps sell on average to 8 consumers per night. It is at this point that the the interviewer Jeff Haarmann, says come back 9am Monday morning for orientation. Craziest interview I have ever been part of... They could care less about you, your work record or qualifications... If you are breathing you have the job.
Next it prays on people who are looking to save money on their bills. This is how I actually became privy to the scam. I told a friend about how I was going to be starting a new job on Monday. About three sentences into the description she looked at me and said "that is the company that came to our door two years ago promising to sell us lower fuel, it took 2 years and $250 to get out of the contract."
