Complaint / Review
City furniture, Tamarac, FL
6701 n. Hiatus Road, Was lied by the sales representative about the In home service program.internet

3 years ago I purchased a new bedroom set from city furniture. During the purchase I was offered the " In home service program" for $149.99. I was told by the sales representative that It's a program that if you don't use during the next 3 years you will get your money back! So I asked him: "how will I get my money back?" he said: " It will appear on your credit card as a refund for $149.99". With such terms, It was so hard to resist, so I went ahead and paid for it. I paid, signed the receipt and the sales person put all the paperwork in this store envelope.

Couple days ago, I received a "coupon for $149.99" the expiration date is 05/06.
I contacted the store by email to find out about why am I getting my refund as a coupon. This is the email I received:

Our In Home Service program has always been that customers receive a Gift Certificate at the expiration period of the program, not a refund. This information is on the back of the envelope given to you at the time of purchase with your invoice. It states:

"You will be entitled to a store credit equal to the price of the service program if you do not use the program. The store credit must be applied against a purchase within 30 days after the original program expires.
Next day at my work, I was telling the story to a co-worker and he told me that, few months ago he purchased a living room sofa set and was told about the " in home service program" the only reason he paid for it was that they told him he is getting his money back as a refund on his credit card if he doesn't use the program within 3years!!!

So, my conclusion is that that exact same store is running a scam telling people that they are going to get the refund and after 3 years they send them a coupon with 30 days expiration date! The only way a costumer can prevent this is by reading the fine print on the "ENVELOP" given to him AFTER the purchase is made!
