Beware of this Family Lawyer in Friendswood, Texas. I will not go into detail but will basically say that she took a $2,500.00 retainer fee upfront to handle my termination of joint custody case. The childs biological father was willing to terminate his relationship with the child since he was a deadbeat, (drug dealer, user, abuser in and out of prison) and he went into her office and signed the papers. That was in the Fall of 2000.in the meantime I had a hard time getting hold of her during the time I had hired her up until when the termination papers were signed. She gave me excuse after excuse when I questioned her about this. I sent her a letter requesting the termination papers and asked her if there was anything else we needed to do. I received the papers in the mail and did not hear from her. So I assumed that it was a done deal.
It was not until over a year later, the Fall of I get a letter in the mail that child support was to be withheld from the biological father. I called Robyn and she gave me excuse after excuse about what had happened. She said she would handle it. Then in the Fall of I decided to seek advice elsewhere from another lawyer. Since Robyn did not handle it. When I hired the new lawyer, I was instructed to send her a letter to fire her before the new lawyer would take this case. Robyn then sends me a bill saying I owe her $1,577.00 on top of the retainer I paid of $2,500.00. The new lawyer had to dismiss the the case and start from scratch due to the messy, invalid paperwork that Robyn filed with the courts. Plus, there was a court date set that I never knew about, I found out later when I looked in my file at the court. It said that I had requestd that court hearing to be passed. After that, it was suggested I go to the Texas State Bar to report her.
I did and of course they did not find her at fault. You know how it goes, lawyers stick together. I was surprised they did not find her at fault. This lawyer took my $2,500.00 and did nothing on my case. She knows she was in the wrong because before the day of the hearing in front of the Texas State Bar, she tried to get me to take money if I would not proceed with my grievance. I said no. And even on the day of hearing before the grievance committee she tried to get me to take money if I would walk away. I said no. At that point it was not about getting my money back, it was about stopping her from cheating other people. I do not want other people to experience the pain and fear this has caused me and my family. To this day the dead beat biological father still has joint custody and wants to see this child since thanks to Robyn he owes over $18,000.00 in child support that really he should not owe.
He has signed new termination papers but they are hung up in court for some reason. She caused a mess in this case.
Beware of Robyn Clement, she thinks she handled my case fairly, when she did not even handle it. She just had a deadbeat sign some termination papers that were not even valid and charged me $2,500.00.
Oh by the way, do not let her fool you. When you meet her she is very nice and sweet and soft spoken. She even suggested to me that I go to church like her. She likes the Lakewood church. Joel Olsteen is a good friend of hers, she said I need to go experience that church. Well, I guess she goes there to forgive herself for all hers sins, like cheating people out of thier money.
