I had a written contract with licensed contractor, Jon Oswell II, Sentinel Campaign Inc. Of Long Beach, CA. He took over a 50% deposit from me and then scheduled a concrete overlay to be done in my home. He canceled on me the day the work was to be done, after I had completed extensive preparation and cleaning for him. He rescheduled again and then canceled again on the same day the work was to be completed. He never phoned me again to complete the work. I moved onto other things and when I phoned him again to schedule, he told me that he had closed my job out. He told me that we would have to resign the contract since he would be adding wording that would be more restrictive and that he was very busy and my job was very small. He had the worst attitude, so I decided to go with someone else.
I asked him for my deposit back and he told me he would send me a partial deposit because he had come over to fill a couple of cracks that took him less than a half an hour on the day he picked up my check. He was going to keep $500. I told him that I had spent over $300 to prepare for him and he told me he didn't care. He also told me that I should take the $600 he was going to send me and be done with it because I would have a hard time finding him.
I filed a complaint with the Contractor's Board of California and found out that he has numerous complaints about him that have resulted in legal action against him.
