My 74 year old mother showed me a CITI statement for charges she had zero knowleged of. On the statement was listed MKS*privacyplus ct. Amount stolen was $134.95 plus $14.95. Dates were 6/02/03-6/05/03. Her investigation telephone call was to 877-500-5774. The result was to refund the shown amounts. The call center was in Texas. This was for a service she had supposedly ordered. Sheinformed me of the results. I was not satisfied. Seemed to easy.
No documents oral promise's. So I called the toll free number and informed the female I was interested in the "services' She provided the web address privacyplus.com.
Do you have any additional web sites? Why yes we do www.dealpass.com. Now the games begin! And what is the mailing address? Hello! I heard her freeze up Ouch '"I do not know if I can give you that sir"But mam I am interested in your company. Let me get you a supervisor. Now the big stick picks up. I go to my mothers to follow up with what I had. So I talk with Citi rep? Fla. He told me yes the bill is bla bla etc. He is nice after all he reads from a screen. Decent guy. What are the charges for? He can not tell us because he does not know. He suggestes we call MKS. I do rep informs me that this is for a service my mother subscribed to. Sign up is $134.95 plus monthly service fee of $14.95. He asked if she wished to cancel her membership? In what? Credit report service. Well she never joined. He offered that the $14.95 was being refunded. Ok? So what about the $134.95?
While we were on the phone that amount came up as available refund. I did provide the code/contact number from my mothers first contact. Magic this will be refunded as a credit. Ok so what does MKS*privacy do? CREDIT reports. One time fee. Then only $14.95
per month.
Ok now every thing is fine. Do you wish to cancel your membership? We do not have a membership. Well you had to have one. Because we billed you. Ok how did you get the card info? Some one gave it to us. TEXAS
Next. Read the the bill some more. Aol aol aol. Sos! On the same statement is AOL. Monthly billing. Call AOL. Billing services INDIA of course. Kind man quiet soft I can barely hear him.
But he told me what happened. When mother signed on to AOL 12 months ISP service that was included with Gateway computer she provided her credit card (CITI) as required. This is for free service/OK? MKS*privacyplus Omaha/Texas? Was the billing party via AOL. Got it? How can this be? Easy a POP/UP. What? Lets me go over this again.
Free 12 months? Yes sir. Zero charges? Yes sir. POP/UP can bill credit card? Yes sir. With out card holders knowledege? Some ones knowledge. When? Tell me how this works. Pop is offered for free credit report, some one clicked. But who? If they clicked what happens next? Credit card holders have to give permission to bill.
NO they do not. Provide info required by ISP and anyone who uses your computer can oder what they want when they want. Ok what what was the screen name? When did they do this? Well sir the first time was, whoa stop the first time? Yse sir the first time was=date provided, and what was the screen name. Again not my mothers. Ok tell me when and how much. We are still in India.
So let me get this clear, a AOL screen name signed on my mothers computer and ordered a credit report service? Yes sir. And who was it for? The screen name sir. How can this be? Oh that is easy that is available because the master account holder which is your 74 year old mother did not correctly block that info to prevent POP UPS. Oh I see now any asshole can jump on a computer and order away? POP. Ups. Got it? I have not sworn or raised my voice to any one today.
Fraud department hello Bonnie, Bonnie is in Florida back where I started with CITI. Bonnie had 40 minutes of crap ahead of me. I held and stayed on the line as the canned message told me to. Ok Bonnie, how does this happen? She told me there was not much you can do about because obviousley some one was a guest on your mom's computer. Ok when who? She told me that she could not provide that. Funny but the man in India can so I need to talk with a supervisor. Not available, more pleading mothers case.
Let me check What is the relationship between AOL and the theives? Partners bam got it. MKS are thieves and AOL is a partner? Then what is AOL? I saw AOL logo displayed at web site for dealpass.com which is a back door of MKS* privacyplus. Check it out readers. Target, home depot, barnes noble and on on. So when privacy plus steals AOL helps? Got it. I have re read the info. The afforementioned companys
All have their fine names hung up like poster children endorsing this den of thieves. Customer provides card info to ISP. ISP assists theft by providing credit info to third pary. Where was permission granted? Credit card company transfers the funds to the thieves electronically. Got it?
Ok so Bonnie tell more, I need documentation. Ok the screen name was SUN#$%[email protected]. What are the dates and times please? And the dollar amounts were? Any others? Oh yes and what time was that one. EST time AOL is VA based after all. So now How do we prevent this? Pass the phone to mom time. Do not allow any one to use your computer. If you the account holder do not #1 block pop ups you can be and will be billed. Thank you AOL.#2The membership was for the account of the screen name.
#3Getting more info as we talk. Confirmation was sent to the screen name that ordered the credit reports. Yes nothing was sent to the card holder. Not by Citi, not by AOL. Everthing was done for the non card holder and facilitated by AOL and CITI.
I understand CITI's position. I did request a copy of e-mail that was sent to the subscriber to confirm the order. Not available sir. What you can tell me who, when the credit reports were requested but you can not document a confirmation e-mail? Fraud light comes on now! Come on AOL bills for MKS*privacyplus thieves and you will not provide docs? What is wrong with this picture?
Plenty, We are still in Florida with Bonnie, she is nice and cooperative, We need to file reports and complaints, Tora is the next supervisor but she is not available, she will call you back. "Bonnie AOL is helping MKS*&privacyplus to my mothers money" How do we stop it?
Do not let anyone on mom's computer. POP/UP may be offered and the person who views them can spend your mothers money and we at AOL will help em do it. Understand? Are we clear? Yes we are clear.
Ps. I informed the young man at MKS*privacyplus that his employer was all over the net as a true example of theives. Class action suits complaints etc. We are still waiting for a call from Tora. At this date the credit card charges remain. Bonnie a sweetheart works at AOL. We still are on AOL. Does it matter which? My suspicions are that most/many are helping themselves to your mony. The pop ups continue.
Help shut this company down. Tell everyone. Why isn't this is illegal? Or is it? Please inform AOL and any one that is on the net. WE ARE ALL AT RISK
