On April 25th MCI suddenly discontinued service to me. I had been a faithful customer for over 7 years. When I called to complain, the technician said he would investigate. He never called back, left a message, or restored service.
The following week I called again to ask why service had been disrupted. A catty female operator said there had been "unusual activity on my account". I asked her what this activity was - she replied "phone calls to New Zealand". This amazed me since my calling plan included a discount on calls to New Zealand. Afterall, this is where my family live. The operator snarled and said I needed to verify this with BELLSOUTH. I asked why they had not notified me before now. She replied that they tried to call me; but were blocked by Privacy Director. It took them too long to wait to leave a message with this system she insisted (all of 1 minute). She hung up. All MCI need to do was check my calling history.
Next time I called, armed with previous accounts I was told that the service had been discontinued due to unpaid bills. When questioned this operator insisted I had to verify with BELLSOUTH that my account was in good standing. I had my latest BELLSOUTH account in front of me. It was still 2 weeks prior to the due payment date. I had no need to check with BELLSOUTH.
It is strange that MCI is part of Worldcom which bilked the American public out of millions; yet they persecuted me without just reason. My phone account with them was less than $30.00 and not overdue.
I changed phone companies; yet MCI still tries to charge me for service. I have refused to pay my last account with MCI. Afterall, they stopped service for no valid reason, they have never apologized or provided a valid explanation.
Keep away from MCI they are disreputable, dishonest and make no effort for their customers!!
