Ripoff They tried to win my heart, but wound up winning my acrimonious castigation, Lure you into setting up an account, so that at the very end they'll nail you with a monthly CC fee

I have a personal ad on one of the large popular dating websites. Because my email address and the screen name I used on this site were identical, it made me an unwitting target for spam. (Mistake on my part.)

A few weeks ago I received a letter from a "Christine Andersen" that said:

Hi:
I saw your profile on * and thought I would write.
I am new to this area and i'm trying to find someone to do things with. I just moved to Encino from Colorado about a month ago and I must say I really like it here.
But i hardly know anybody here, except for my roomate who moved here a little while back. She says she's met her friends throughthe internet and that there's a lot of interesting people I may like. Hopefully I will find one.

I am quite new to this whole internet thing, haven't had a computer before. So I'm using her connection. My roomate Christine gave me your email and showed me how to send it but now we can't figure out how to
attach my picture here. She helped me, though, with my profile, we put it (profile and picture) at the free site (singleslibrary) com where she's at. I think you click on locate 2912357.

If after looking at it you're interested in getting together or calling me, I'll be home all day tomorrow at 21341368. I've been told i'm attractive and sweet. I am also open minded and like trying new things, I am fun to be with, I like jokes and laughing. Any way we can talk and see what we have in common and maybe get together if you would like to. Well, I'm sending out a few e-mails, so, let's see what happens. Hope to hear from you soon Bye, Jane

P.S. Did you get my last e-mail, I think I messed it up? I don't know if we'll be using this e-mail addresses anymore so call me, she prefers we use only one at singles library so she won't have to sign in to get them, they forward them directlyto her computer.

(1) The idea of having to go to another site to view a profile filled me with suspicion. (2) The incomplete phone number was fuel to the fire. (3) The whole "I'm new to the world of email" bit just cinched my trepidation. So having anticipated that I would be walking headlong into a scam, I was able to avoid any loss of money.

When I noodled around their site, I started entering profile codes randomly. I found a cluster of almost identical profiles, each with women of the same name, with identical professions and interests, but with different pictures and ages.

I don't remember the exact names and ages, but it was something like: Nancy was a 24 year-old blonde nurse who lives in the "northside" (wherever THAT is). Nancy is also a 32 year-old brunette nurse who lives in the northside. Nancy (this woman sure gets around) is also working part-time as a 48 year-old red-head nurse in the northside, and rounds up her day by being a 55 year-old grey-haired nurse in the northside. A different picture accompanied each profile.

You do the math.

I also found a slew of profiles with pictures that were all taken in front of the same blue background. Like they'd paid 200 people to sit in front of a blue cloth background and get their photo taken. It was creepy.

You'll also notice that many of the ads on the site all read alike — most are in all-caps; use the same trite adjectives to describe themselves and their matches; offer minimal information and don't really delve much into who they are; contain far too many typos, misspellings and/or grammatical blunders. I'm guessing they're all written by the same jerks.

I did some research and found that a few other folks had received similar, if not identical, email to that which I received.

I think the goal of SinglesLibrary.com is to lure you into setting up an account, so that at the very end they'll nail you with a monthly CC fee.

Through their deceptive marketing strategy they are committing one of the most offensive types of rip-offs; rip-offs of the heart. People place personal ads because they're looking for love and affection, not because they want to piss away wads of cash on false hopes and duplicitous websites.

I'm writing this report because the first thing I did when I read Christine's email was come to usacomplaints.com; but there was nothing written about them yet.

Good luck!

Tell us of your experiences with them!
