My experience with Market America

I will tell you my experience with Market America to the best of my ability and you are free to consider the information. I signed up for Market America the middle of 2008 of my own volition after attending a few information meetings. I do work full time, have a family and an existing business on the side already but the presentation was impressive and I believed in the products. I used the products and discussed and shared the products at every opportunity. I did not, however, have time to attend weekly meetings and out-of-state seminars which cost a small fortune. Nevertheless, I had parted with almost $1400 to get my business open, set up and running and I had chosen the few products I really believed in that I could readily share with others during my personal and work hours. I was STRONGLY ENCOURAGED by my up line "mentors" to buy $135-$150 each month (product, tax, shipping and monthly UFMS of $20/month AKA bookkeeping fee) of products and services approximately 2/3 of which I was required to sell to others and produce receipts that I had done so. The other approximately 1/3 could be for personal use. I did this for over a year. The following spring 2009 after signing up approximately 7/09 I still had not signed anyone up under me so, even though I was accumulating points I could not collect any money. To collect money from my business based on my accumulated points, I had to have 1 or 2 people signed up under me. Your accumulated points are good for one year but after one year the earliest accumulated points are voided and drop off the back end as the new ones are added onto the front. This means you cannot accumulate points indefinitely without signing someone up under you and can only accumulate a maximum of 1 years worth of points at a time.

I had all my credit card information stored in my online account and set up for automatic draft to take the headache out of meeting the quarterly sales requirements. My product billed and shipped automatically each month. Spring 2009 I received notification from the bank that the credit card number I had set up to do this had been compromised by Heartland Payment Processing Systems and the bank would need to issue us (and many other customers) all new credit cards effectively voiding the old accounts. That month, I had a problem with my order and did my best to straighten it all out in a timely manner. However, a short 2-3 months after that episode, fraudulent charges show up on two separate personal bank accounts using credit card numbers. Immediately upon discovering this I reviewed all financial records from my bank and filed affidavit of forgery. I next set about changing my payment method for the second time in 3 months. This time, since I did not know how to set up the safest option which was bill pay via my bank, I went to my Market America business center and entered checking and routing numbers. Apparently, in doing so there was a problem and this draft did not clear.in response to this "bounced check", Market America blocked my access to my account (I couldnt have investigated the problem if I had wanted to), and began collection calls demanding the $25 bounced check fee before releasing my online access
