The owner of this salon does not formerly employ stylists to work there. Payments to employees are recieved under-the-table, if at all, and are far below the states minimum wage requirement. The owner fails to keep in contact with employees, and makes a conscious effort to avoid them when matters such as this need to be discussed.
The owner neglected to contact her employees back after multiple, daily attempts to reach her for weeks. The owner also neglected to pay the stylists for their time for over four weeks, forcing the stylists to have to abandon the salon.
Due to the fact that the salon is unoccupied most of the time, clients cannot make appointments, or even recieve any calls back to inform them that the salon is currently without staff due to the owners neglect.
The owner neglects to do simple essentials to run a business. For example, the till does not have adequate change, the credit card account that clients pay for their services to - is closed, if you encounter a problem with your service you cannot speak to the owner/manager as she is never present and appears to have abandoned the salon.
The owner fails to supply the salon with materials and references needed for services (haircolor, swatches, etc). So if you want to tint your hair black, and the salon doesn't have that color due to the owners neglect to supply it, you'll have to return at a different time.
The former stylists there report getting messages daily from creditors trying to hunt the owner down. Often times she was neglectful paying bills for upkeep of the salon. The stylists have found multiple "5 Day Pay or Vacate" notices taped to the door upon arriving at work.
The salon is without a valid business lisence and does not meet the Washington State Cosmetology Board's requirements for a legally operating salon. Elnara Rahrovi also owns Elle's Salon and Boutique, in Kirkland WA.
In short: If you get your haircut at The Garage Salon (under the miraculous circumstances the owner has not been evicted) you are getting your hair cut by stylists who are inexperienced, taken advantage of, and working illegally due to lack of any current business lisence.
