Unsolicited Cosmopolitan Magazine with Sexual Language on Cover Send thru USPS

Can anyone help me with a question? How can someone send me a magazine with what I consider foul language to my home?

I am 57 yrs old and have ages 6,9 and 14 yr old grandchildren get my mail and lately an unsolicited Cosmopolitan Magazine has been in the mailbox addressed to me, giving them the impression I ordered and read it. They are also exposed to the following kind of language:

(This is this months - every other month since March has been as bad if not worse)

Lucky Bitch
Best Sex Ever
Most Bad-ass Orgasm Imaginable
Your Sexiest Summer Ever
Dirty Lying Brides

I have called and asked for it to be stopped. I was told they can only put a hold on it. (I had to get a magnify glass out to find the number and then had to sit through an automated answering system.)

I was told by a customer service rep - John (he wouldn't give me his last name) ext 5035 ph # 800-888-2676 that the subscription came from a company called SubCo whom they get a lot of complaints about.

John gave me Subco's number 800-258-3350, I called them and spoke to Susan and she told me it was a prepaid subscription by Western Reader. I asked her who ordered it. I had to give her my phone number to get a call back response. I did not give her my unlisted home number, I gave her my cell.

Mary Beth of Western Reader Service called from 800-347-7223. She told me I had received a Better Homes and Garden's Special Introductory Offer in 2000. I told her I did not live here then. She said the magazines themselves send out the magazines in what are called Special Introductory Offers which are prepaid.

They want to increase readership of Cosmopolitan in hopes the magazine will be renewed. I read her what was on the cover. She was shocked (just like me).

How is this legal? I find this very offensive and disturbing to me and my grandchildren.

How can a company legally order something for me which is sexual in nature?

Can I do anything about it? How do I make it stop? Has anyone else encountered a similar situation?

Who can I complain to? I appreciate any suggestions.
