We gave Kunstance Dawson $1000 in January for a 50th birthday party to be held at her venue, Whispering Hills, in August.
When touring the property, she was extremely nice and friendly, telling us how she had bought the place and about all the parties she had hosted there for UT, Dell, etc.
In April, we received a call from the TRUE property owner, telling us she had abandoned the facility with 7 months of hot checks left behind. He found out she had abandoned the place when a wedding party showed up for their reception & she was no where to be found. She left all her party files behind so he was calling everyone to advise us.
We called & called & she DID call me back, to say the owner was the liar & would I give her until Monday (5 days) and she would have her new place up & going. She said the owner would not renew her lease even tho she begged him to. We told her we were just going to cancel and we needed to meet to get our CASH back. She said she would call back shortly with the place and time. Needless to say, she has disappeared from the face of the earth now & is not returning our calls at all.
I did a docket search and found that she is on the criminal docket in Travis county for THEFT charges, due to appear tomorrow AM, April 10th at 9:00 AM. So obviously, this is not the first time she has done this sort of thing. She has had 2 other venues before this one, one being Essence of Elegance in Pflugerville.
I will be filing criminal charges as well and will pursue this until she is in jail and / or makes restitution. I post her to get her name out there so others won't lose their hard earned money as I have.
