On 4/21 I got into a contract (3 years) with ADT secruity, Alert Security of St Augustine installed the alarm system I have had many problems with this system, When my alarm goes off it notifies the ADT office using my phone line. When ADT calls me back to see if everythig is ok, their call goes right to voice message because the alarm is tying up the phone line. One morning a guest went out the front door at around 5 am. The alarm went off within a few minutes I put in the code and the alarm stopped,
Hours later I found that I had a message on my phone, it was ADT, they got the alarm and if I needed any help to call them back. A lot of good they did everyone could have been killed and they never would have known. And I paid for that service. I did complain, Oh well.
Feb 3rd or 4th Not sure I was not home, my wife called to tell me the smoke alarm went off, she could not get ADT to let them know all was ok because the alarm was tying up the phone, so she had to tell the fire department when they arived. A week or so later the same problem. Could not stop the fire department before they got here. All of my complaints fell on deaf ears untill I just told everyone I spoke with at ADT and Alert security that I was done, that I felt safer without there system. I wanted to cancel.
The next day Speaking with someone named Brian at alert security he told me he would get to the bottom of this. The next day a Bryan Doyle from ADT called me. He assured me that he could fix the problem and if I would give him a chance He would see about getting me "a few free months service and lower my monthly bill" I said aganinst my better judgement because of all the rude people I delt with at ADT I said ok if you can do what you promissed go ahead and fix it. A couple days go by and the smoke alarm goes off... Again I have to meet the fire department when they get here.
I called Bryon from ADT the I'm gonna fix it man and he tells me "sorry not his problem, give alert security a call. I did sign a contract for security services. But the service is not as described nor operated as described to me. They were well aware of my phone service, no one told me I needed two lines I think that this would be breach of contract - they never installed a working device as per the oral representation. The system they installed has caused undue hardship and even placed my family at risk because of they system and their utter failure to properly install a working security system.
What they did do without missing a beat is send me a bill for $824.77 because I canceled before 3 years. They are giving me an ulcer.
I did report this to the Floridaa Department of Business & Professional Regulation. I can't afford a lawyer and it is going to kill me to have to set up a payment plan with them because they are wrong and will still report me to the credit department... I wish I could sue them for mental anguish.
