I received a check for $4998 from Shoppers Enterprise to do mystery shopping. The instructions were to make 4 copies and cash the check, then I would get more instructions.
I asked a few questions about verifying the check and was told that part of this process was if I could follow directions correctly they would hire me again.in other words, I felt like if I asked too many questions I would fail and not be hired.
The cashier's check was written from a bank in Macon, GA. I called information and got the phone number to the bank. I talked to the actual bank in Georgia. The representative asked me for the check info and told me it was a scam and they were investigating it. I asked her if she wanted the check and letter. She said no.
I noticed a toll free number on the check itself and decided to see what they would say. I called the 877 number and it sounded like the same person from Shopper's Enterprise. She did not have a southern accent like the bank rep from Georgia. I asked to verify the check, she put me on hold for a minute, then said the check was good.
I replied, that's funny, I just talked to the bank in Georgia and they told me the check was not good. Before I could get another word out she almost shouted that the bank had the wrong information and the check was good.
Then she hung up on me.
Needless to say I will not cash the check and I can't tell you how glad I am that I found your site when I googled Shopper's Enterprise. I will check complaint often for more info. I hope this report helps someone else.
