I have been trying to figure out why my monthly bill with Embarq (phone company) is so high so finally I went to my account online and viewed my bill in detail. I found a Third Party Providers portion of my bill. When I clicked on the details I see a charge of $29.90 per month for a company called ESBI. I clicked on that detail and discovered two different companies and bills: TriVoice VMail MnthlyFee of $14.95 and Intellicom Messaging MoFee of $14.95.
I contacted Embarq to inquire about this. I was told I signed up for these services via the Internet. I explained that, no I hadn't, but Embarq could not, or would not help me. They gave me phone numbers for me to call the two companies for credit. I did and for over an hour I had to fight for information and credit. The first company, Intellicom gave me credit for all 8 months, however, I had to call back to check and discovered the first person had only provided 3 months credit but told me she'd given it all to me. I will have to follow through on this to see if I do receive the full credit.intellicom does have a legitimate website: http://www.intellicominc.com/. I DID NOT sign up for this service, I don't need it, nor can I afford it. I never used it.
TriVoice International is another story. They would only issue me 3 months credit; to try and get the rest of my credit I have to put the request in writing. Plus, they have no website, but they have been doing this to others, check out this website: http://usacomplaints.com/reports/0/295/RipOff0295854.htm
We re-contacted Embarq to complain that they 1) allowed third-party billing without our authorization, 2) associated themselves with an obviously bogus company, 3) and did not alert us to any of this.
We have unknowingly been paying $29.90 for eight months! We so cannot afford this especially because we didn't know about it AND we didn't ask for it!
