Scam me i even gave them a call first to see if this was real, new City

On the 22 of Jan i received a letter in my PO box with a check inside stating that i need to take this check to a money gram but the first thing i do was go and call the people to make sure this was real then i was told to put the check into my bank account and it would clear in 24 to 48 hours and it never cleared and now my bank has refused to do business with me because of this check that was suppose to clear that i may do the work required of me in order to start this secret shopper thing that was sent to my mail i also go to school for ministry and the bank that i use through bank of America might not even pay for my schooling because of this 5000.00 scam
