Back in our company was located in Wall township, NJ. We leased a credit card machine from firstdata.com. Although we haven't used that machine in over 3 years, it was recently discovered that they had been charging us $31.95 every month since 2000.
When this was discovered, we appealed to the company to find out why the machine, which we no longer used, and cost between $200-$300, was still being billed to us.
We were told that for $30.00 they would stop billing us, and that they could nothing to refund any portion of the billing.
They say they can't find anything in their records stating that we paid for the machine 6 years ago through the leasing, and all our records for that year are boxed and stored away.
Although they said there is nothing they can or will do to rectify this situation, we feel it is absurd to be charged for over 7 years for this machine.
